Well I don’t know about you…. but my kiddos are all kinds of crazy!
Between the 100th day, snow, no recess for a week, Valentine’s day and a full moon this week….. They are ready for some fun!
I stopped by the dollar store this morning on the way to school and picked up some yummy candy hearts (although they aren’t my favorite!)….they do make some great math manipulatives! And my students agreed!
We are knee deep into addition and subtraction and everything in between this week, so we focused on making 10.
I got a box of candy hearts for each student (4-pack for $1) and we got on our way!
The goal….to make as many different combinations of 10!
All you need is candy hearts, a cup, and this freebie below!
Put your 10 candy hearts in the cup, shake, and roll it out. Count the hearts that are face up and face down and create your addition sentence to make ten. Piece.of.Cake.
And they LOVE it!!
Mrs. Wheeler says
Fun! Thanks! I am always looking for ways to use the hearts!
Happy Valentine's Day!
