Well…. my first post for the new year! (and we are already 13 days into the new year!)
January is definitely flying by…. Between the holidays, heading back to school, and just the hectic-ness of life, blogging took a little back burner the past few weeks!
But I’m back…. and I have some freebies for you at the end of this post! (so stay with me!)
Math has been SNOW much fun this week…. decomposing and making 10!
I wanted to show you a few of the activities that we have been engaged in this week!
We used these snowball numbers multiple times this week! I included the numbers 0-10 and you can either place them face up or down in some “snow”. Cotton balls work great ๐
I whipped up a little snowman with a ten frame to help us this week as well! Students would pick a number and build that number in the ten frame using cubes, erasers, or any other manipulative that you would like to use!
We used this recording sheet to fill in our parts to make 10. You can easily place in a sleeve and use dry erase markers or use in a center as a recording sheet!
This was definitely a favorite this week! Grab a partner, counters, and a dry erase marker!
Directions:
Player 1 – selects a card, writes the number in their circle, and builds the number with cubes or counters (your choice!)
Player 2 – fills in the remaining ten frame squares to determine the missing part that will complete the ten frame.
We also did this whole group with our snowman ten frame and their own ten frame cards with their partner:
Here is another FUN and YUMMY way to make 10! Just grab some goldfish and a dry erase marker and you are ready to go!
Just want a simple center or assessment? I used some little winter erasers with my students as they found the missing part in the cards below:
You can grab ALL of these and more by clicking the picture below:
Now… off to sleep as it is way past my bedtime!
I’ll be back soon with some new products ๐

Hi Kimberly,
You will have to click on the arrow to completely download the file! It should then pull up like a normal PDF file where you will have the option to print! Hope this helps ๐
