Happy Fall!!
October is in full swing and I am loving it! Fall is my favorite time of year, not only for the holidays and food, but we also learn some of my favorite concepts during the fall!
This past week we were all about blends! Each day we focused on a new set of blends, covering s-blends, r-blends, and l-blends!
Do you have the set of Phonics Tales books? They are great for teaching concepts just like this! They include multiple blend stories, digraphs, short vowels, long vowels, and more!
After reading our blend story, we reviewed the sounds and sorted our picture cards to each blend.
We created a little craft each day to help us with the blends.
For s-blends…
For r-blends…
For l-blends…
This is what our board looked like by the end of the week!
Getting sidetracked now….
We also started a little small group incentive…. do you see the gumball machines on the board? We now have “GUMBALL GROUP points” in our class. Each group has a gumball machine labeled with their group number. When the group is working quietly or working well together, they receive a gumball. On Fridays, the gumball group with the most gumballs gets out of the prize box and another fun reward!
Sorry for getting sidetracked….
Back to FALL!
This week we also planned and did a little Fall writing!
We brainstormed as a class all of the things that we LOVE about Fall!! They created their adorable little acorn and they were too cute not to display!
You can grab your FREE copy of this acorn writing craft by clicking HERE!
This week I’ll be back to share our Halloween/Fall Literacy centers and more Fall activities!!
Have a great week ๐
