Whew!
We made it! We survived the first week of school! And this just wasn’t any first week y’all…. we had a kindergartner in the house! (say what?!)
So this was a BIG first week! It was the first week in my new school with my new team and new students! It was the first week of school for this BIG guy….. yes folks….. he is officially a kindergartner! {insert sad mommy face here!}
(OK y’all… it was 102 degrees and HUMID…. forgive the hair!)
(and yes… we got to wear JEANS on the first day!!!)
Can you sense the nervous vibes in this little boy’s body?!….and he was probably wanting the camera to get out of his face! (I mean you only start kindergarten once…right?! (hopefully!)
After so many pictures….he looked like this!
Geez Mom…..
I am so proud of this little guy! I know he will do well (bless his sweet precious teacher….. Lawd only knows what my sweet baby tells her throughout the day!)
He is definitely worn out….. I mean… this kindergarten stuff is hard y’all!
We have also been working {super-duper} hard in the class this week. I’m pretty sure my repeat button of explaining rules is starting to need repair!
I *always* forget how young and sweet these new baby first graders are! But my oh my….rules and procedures take up a BIG portion of our day!
We did manage to get some fun stuff in the mix (while learning of course!)

We did these cute little “David Goes to School” crafts from the adorable Michelle at Smitten With First!
(Y’all…I get to work with Michelle every day!!) So excited to get to see and work with her!
We also began our first Math unit with graphing information and data using tally marks. We had some fun races on the board making tally marks and creating our own real tally marks!
Since I don’t know much about my sweet babies just yet (academically), we definitely had to review a little!
We dipped into the alphabet pretty hard focusing on the order, capital and lowercase letters, and beginning sounds.
Have y’all ever seen this adorable alphabet book?!
It is just uh-dorable! So naturally….we became pirates ourselves for the day! Alphabet pirates that is!
We focused this day on capital and lowercase letters and students made their own treasure chest of letters!
You can snag this fun craft up for FREE by clicking below!
(Please note…. you will need to enlarge the treasure chest on the copy machine OR shrink the treasure letter coins on the copy machine in order for the craft to fit together correctly!)
I didn’t get too many pictures this week…as it was non-stop…. however we did manage to fit in these fun little crafts today and I had my phone camera handy!
“Cooking” Up a Great Year!
We discussed why we thought this was going to be a great year and students made their little chef characters….which turned out way too cute!
You can also grab this craftivity and writing templates for FREE! (just click below)
Whew….. I’m not really sure how I am even awake right now writing this!
I.am.beat.
I am ready to enjoy my three-day weekend (however much of it will be spent thinking about and working on school stuff!)
I am so excited to see what this year brings! (Some exciting things are already planned!) *more coming soon about that!*
Hope your first week went well ๐
