My poor little blog is feeling a little neglected right now! The week before school is always busy and this past week was no different! With in-service meetings, workshops, Meet the Teacher night, and planning the first week, it’s no wonder my little blog is feeling lonely!
Meet the Teacher night was a success! Most of my little angels showed up with bright smiles on their face ready to start a new year!
First I want to share a few pictures of my classroom…..
Table group numbers
Calendar/Morning Meeting area
(The blank area at the bottom is for our skip counting flash cards and daily schedule cards!)
It includes my daily graphing question, birthdays, days of the week, months of the year, shapes, colors, calendar, helpers, weather and weather graphing, and to the bottom right is my dismissal chart.)
I will get close up pictures this week!
This is our Reading Center board. The top five posters include the center, which will have student clips that will rotate each day. The bottom strategy posters are a freebie from Hope King! (They are adorable!)
I will get more pictures this week….. and *hopefully* post sometime this week! (If I’m still awake when I get home!)
Below is my Meet the Teacher class information packet. Students and parents will find this on their desk when they arrive, among other important school documents and forms!
Now onto the important things…. the actual activities and lessons for this week!
Some of my favorite books to read at the beginning of the year are “Chrysanthemum” and “The Kissing Hand”.
Below is a little craftivity that I put together for “Chrysanthemum”. After we read the story, we discuss how each of our names are unique! After making our craftivity, we will hang them up on the board and see just how different and unique our names are!
You can click on the picture above or {HERE} for a FREE copy of this little craft!
We will also be reading “The Kissing Hand” which is also a favorite back to school book! We all feel nervous, happy, scared, worried, sad, and every other emotion on the first day of school (including us teachers!)
After we read the story, we will fill in our feelings activity sheet:
….. then we will complete it with an adorable craft!
Alright…. off to make sure I have everything else ready for tomorrow!
Hope everyone else has a great first day (if you haven’t already started!)
